Tom Sanders

This ceramic tiled wall mural was created by Melbourne Artist Tom Sanders in 1971 to celebrate the opening of the Perth Concert Hall. That it is a non-traditional mural of glazed ceramics, with a beautiful palate of colour, abstract composition and a 10 metre X 2.5 metre scale is one of the many reasons to go & view it, it’s also located in a brutalist building & so has a striking juxtaposition with it’s environment. once you start to look at it you’ll begin to notice subtle details within the overall composition that include the subtle nod to brutalism with the repetition & rhythm of the pattern of the tiles themselves.
